Donauriesling 2024
Our first PIWI, or 'Pilzwiderstandsfähig', short for resistant to fungal diseases. Requiring less fungicide sprays and hence fewer passes with the tractor in the vineyard these new hybrid varieties are the latest development in environmental sustainability. Austria is at the forefront here with 2% of vineyards already planted with PIWI's – trend only upwards!
With Riesling prominent in its heritage the Donauriesling 2024 features typical Riesling aromas of peach and elderflower, notes of pear and rose and a fruity finish.
Enjoy with fish dishes or grilled chicken.

About Familie Bauer Wagram
The Bauer family makes wine in Wagram, the region just northeast of Vienna along the Danube — Roter Veltliner country. Vintage by vintage, their focus is the same: improve the quality of the wine, and let the bottle speak honestly of its typicity. The wine drinker should feel the climate, the site, and the care taken in the vineyard and the cellar.
Their approach refuses the easy trick of producing the same wine year after year through clever methods. Each vintage is allowed to reflect its own conditions — what the season gave that year. Modern techniques in vineyard and cellar exist to serve, not override, that goal: protecting carefully selected, healthy grape material through to the bottle so that what reaches the glass is, as the family put it, a "liquid experience" of place.
